In a display of remarkable skill, Mr. Amit Dhoundiyal, a FIDE-rated player (1689) and the chess coach at Ann Mary School, clinched the title at the Late Shri SKA Zaidi Memorial Chess Tournament.
The tournament saw fierce competition, drawing 110 players from across Uttarakhand, with over 40 internationally rated players participating. There were six grueling rounds of classical chess, and the event showcased the depth of talent in the region.
Amit Dhoundiyal emerged victorious with an impressive score of 5 out of 6, defeating five internationally rated players along the way.
