Ann Mary School successfully hosted the prestigious R.C. Singhal Memorial Interschool Chess Tournament on September 3 and 4, under the flagship of the Dehradun Progressive Schools’ Association. The tournament, held in memory of ace mathematician Late Mr. R.C. Singhal, witnessed participation from 19 leading schools of the city.
The event was conducted in four categories – Junior Boys, Junior Girls, Senior Boys, and Senior Girls. In the Senior category, Ann Mary School’s Sparsh Bisht and Ishita Malhan clinched the top positions. In the Junior category, the winners were Taroosh Singal from The Doon School (Boys) and Janavi Malhotra from Ann Mary School (Girls).
The champions were felicitated by Director Ms. Ankita Joshi. Principal Mrs. Pallavi Gupta, the school’s PTIs, and school chess coach Mr. Amit Dhondhiyal were also present on the occasion. Coaches from the participating teams acted as arbiters during the matches, ensuring fair play and smooth conduct of the tournament, for which the school expressed its gratitude.
The tournament provided a platform for young chess enthusiasts to demonstrate their skills and passion for the game.
