Ann Mary School emerged as the top performing school at the R.C. Singhal Memorial Interschool Chess Tournament. The tournament was successfully hosted by the school on September 3 and 4 under the flagship of the Dehradun Progressive Schools’ Association. The event, held in memory of ace mathematician Late Mr. R.C. Singhal, saw participation from 19 leading schools of the city.
In the Senior category, Ann Mary School’s Sparsh Bisht and Ishita Malhan clinched the top positions, while in the Junior category, Janavi Malhotra from Ann Mary School was the girls’ champion, showcasing the school’s dominance. The boys’ Junior title was won by Taroosh Singal from The Doon School.
The champions were felicitated by Director Ms. Ankita Joshi. Principal Mrs. Pallavi Gupta, the school’s PTIs, and school chess coach Mr. Amit Dhondhiyal were also present on the occasion. Coaches from the participating teams acted as arbiters during the matches, ensuring fair play and smooth conduct of the tournament.
The tournament provided a platform for young chess enthusiasts to demonstrate their skills and passion for the game, with Ann Mary School making a remarkable mark both as champion and host.
