On 7th December 2024, a group of students from Ann Mary School had the unique opportunity to witness the prestigious Passing Out Parade (POP Adjutant) at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun. This event is one of the most significant milestones in the training of future officers of the Indian Army, held twice a year in June and December.
The Passing Out Parade marks the culmination of rigorous training for cadets, who are about to be commissioned as officers in the Indian Army. For the students of Ann Mary School, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to witness this grand ceremony, which featured a series of important and ceremonial events.
The day’s proceedings included:
•Introduction to the Academy: Students were given a brief background of the Indian Military Academy and its pivotal role in shaping future officers.
•Guard of Honour: Senior officers conducted an inspection of the cadets, highlighting the discipline and precision of the academy.
•March Past: The cadets demonstrated their impeccable marching skills in front of the dignitaries.
•Trooping the Colour: A regiment’s flag was paraded, showcasing the rich traditions and history of the Indian Army.
•Award Presentations: Outstanding cadets received awards, medals, and trophies for their exceptional performance and leadership.
•Speeches: Important addresses were delivered by the Guest of Honour and other senior officials, inspiring the new officers.
•Band Performance: The cadet band performed, adding a ceremonial touch to the event.
•Junior Cadets’ Respect: Junior cadets paid their respects to the passing-out cadets, honoring their hard work and dedication.
•Antim Pag: In a touching moment, cadets took the final step into Chetwode Hall, with the band playing Auld Lang Syne, symbolizing the end of their journey and the beginning of a new chapter.
This memorable event gave the students of Ann Mary School a deeper understanding of the dedication, discipline, and sacrifices that go into becoming an officer in the Indian Army. It was an inspiring experience that they will cherish for years to come.
