On 10th July 2023 , round 1 of the prestigious Frank Anthony Memorial All India Interschool Debate was held across various ICSE schools in the country.
The Ann Mary School was represented in the junior category by Mansi Khandurie and Shreya of Class X at St.Joseph’s Academy, where they put forth their arguments on the topic- ‘ Facebook Friends have become more real than real friends’ . After fierce competition, the girls managed to bag the Runners Up position and qualify to the second round. Mansi Khandurie was adjudged the Runner Up Best Speaker.
In the second round , held on 18th of August at St.Patrick’s Academy, the team expressed their views on the topic – ‘ Social Media has affected human values’. Their strong oration got them the Best Team Title and the prestigious Silver Shield .Additionally , Shreya was adjuged the 2nd Runner Up speaker .
In the senior category the school was represented by Ananya Sharma and Aarushi Mehra of class XII on 10th July , at Touchwood School. Their topic was – Social Media has left no scope for having real peers. The girls with their strong arguments impressed the judges and won the competition coming back as the Best Team and qualifying to the second round. Aarushi Mehra was adjudged the best speaker.
The senior team got a chance to represent the school for the second round at The Shri Ram School, Moulsari Avenue in Gurugram, Delhi NCR. They put forth their views on the topic – Social Media helps in building a strong community’. After a tough war of words the team was declared Runners Up with Aarushi Mehra bagging the 1st Runner Up Speaker medal .
