St . Joseph’s Academy hosted their annual JLD’Souza Interschool Debate on the 26th of August 2023, with about 14 schools of Dehradun, Mussoorie and Meerut participating in the competition. The school was represented by Ananya Sharma of class 12 ,Soham Chhabra of class 11 and Mansi Khandurie of class 10.
The debate was held in two rounds -the qualifying round in the oxford format and the final round in the Modified Cambridge Format . In the qualifying round Ananya and Mansi put forth their views on the notion- Women’s Sports have become as popular as men’s sports,’while Soham Chhabra of class 11 was the interlocutor. The team managed to qualify to the second round along with 3 other schools where they argumented on the topic- ‘Environment Crisis should be of paramount importance in global politics’ as Side Proposition.
After an intense day of debating the team won the competition returning with the Rolling Trophy and the Best Team medals awarded to all three of them. Mansi Khandurie was adjudged the 2nd runner up speaker
